About the Journal
Editorial reporting and analysis on the built environment, published alongside — and deliberately separate from — the Build Design Hub reference knowledge base.
Two things, on purpose
Build Design Hub is a reference platform. Its Materials Library, Building Systems, guides, ideas and checklists are written to stay true, and they are maintained as records rather than as posts.
The Journal is the dated half. Developments, research readings, sector context, and notes on how the platform itself is changing. It currently holds 5 articles, and it links out to 4,042 canonical reference records rather than restating them.
Why it is a separate application
The reference platform is large — several thousand pages, every one of them a real file. Rebuilding all of it to publish one article would take minutes of compute and would put an established, indexed corpus through a deployment for no reason connected to the change.
So the Journal is its own application with its own build and its own deploy history, served to you at the same address. Publishing here does not rebuild the knowledge base, and changing the knowledge base does not rebuild the Journal. Everything you see remains at www.builddesignhub.com — the split is an engineering fact, not something a reader should ever have to notice.
What it will not become
Not a contractor directory, not a product marketplace, not a sponsored trade blog, and not an affiliate review site. The editorial policy states those exclusions as commitments rather than intentions.
