Support Rail

Overview
What a rail is
Rails span between brackets across the face of a wall, and the cladding is fixed to them. They distribute the panel fixings across the brackets and give the cladding a continuous line to be set out from.
Their direction has a consequence beyond support. A horizontal rail crossing a drained cavity is an obstruction to water running down it and to air moving up, which is why rail direction and drainage provision are considered together.
