A quilt can sit in the void behind a board; a composite panel can arrive as board and insulation bonded into one sheet; a thick low-density plaster coat can be applied wet; and a backed roll can be hung by a decorator.

Insulating plaster: a coat, not a board

A plaster or render whose aggregate is a lightweight insulant is applied considerably thicker than a standard plaster, is softer and more open, and is built up in successive passes rather than laid as a single skim. A separate finishing coat compatible with it completes the work.

A backed roll is a decorating operation
