Faced panels look alike on a page and behave very differently in a workshop. What separates them is what the core is made of and how the face is attached: melamine impregnated and fused, laminate bonded under pressure, foil or vinyl wrapped, veneer glued, acrylic bonded. Both halves of that answer matter.

These entries describe the panels themselves and what their behaviour depends on. They state no emissions or formaldehyde class, no fire rating, and never present moisture resistance as absolute — a moisture-resistant board is not a waterproof board. Those questions belong to the manufacturer's documentation for the specific product.

Blockboard →Panel with a core of edge-glued solid timber strips sandwiched between veneers, stiffer along the core direction and lighter than a comparable plywood.

Honeycomb Panel →Lightweight furniture panel built from thin facing boards over an expanded paper honeycomb core, with solid inserts framing the areas that can take fixings.

Cement Bonded Board →Panel in which wood particles are bound in Portland cement rather than resin, giving a dense mineral-bound board that is heavy, tool-blunting and dimensionally steady.

Bending Board →Panel engineered to be weak across one axis so it can be wrapped around a former, then laminated in layers to build a stable curved component.

Slatwall Panel →Storage wall panel grooved with continuous slots, often aluminium reinforced, made to carry hooks and brackets rather than to serve as a decorative lining.

Pegboard →Board drilled with a regular grid of holes for hooks, which has to be battened clear of the wall so the hook legs can pass through and turn behind it.

Foil Wrapped Door →A cabinet door format in which a thermoplastic film is vacuum pressed over a routed fibreboard core, covering the face and the profiled edge in one skin.

PVC Foam Board →An opaque closed cell foamed PVC panel, coloured through its thickness, used for damp area joinery, bath panels and sign faces, easily machined but soft at fixings.

Window Board →The internal shelf that closes the reveal beneath a window, supplied as faced board, solid timber or stone and detailed against the frame, the plaster and any radiator.

Cane Webbing →A woven open mesh of rattan cane skin used as a decorative cabinet front, tensioned in a groove or captured in a frame, with no core and no structural capacity.

Agri Fibre Panel →A pressed panel made from cereal straw or other crop residue rather than wood, supplied raw or already faced, with its own density and screw holding behaviour.

Acrylic Sheet →A solid transparent or coloured acrylic sheet, cast or extruded, used for splashbacks, screens, gloss fronts and signage, and harder but more brittle than polycarbonate.

Veneered Panel →A board pressed with sliced timber veneer in the factory, faced on the show side and balanced on the back, bought by the sheet with its matching already decided.

Panel Adhesive →The bonding materials that hold joinery together, from emulsion wood glues to contact adhesives for laminate and reactive types, chosen by joint, pressure and exposure.

Primed Moulding →Machined trim sections in fibreboard or finger jointed softwood, supplied with a factory sealer and primer on the show faces, leaving cut ends and backs to be treated on site.
